Mom made it exactly one week before falling again. This time out of her bed at its max height, resulting in a trip to the ER. Mom apparently wanted to lay down and rest after lunch. After tucking her in, lowering her bed, and trying to set it up so that she couldn\u2019t just roll out, mom found the remote and jacked it all up before attempting to get out on her own.<\/p>\n
No one witnessed her fall, but since it was at about waist-height and she was complaining of hip pain, they had to err on the side of caution and get her to the hospital for x-rays. Good news is that everything came back clear (head CT and x-ray on hip). She\u2019ll probably be sore and end up with a bruise, but it\u2019s better than the alternative.<\/p>\n
She was pretty crabby with me the entire time, telling me that she has to do those things so that I\u2019d go see her. She\u2019s very forgetful and doesn\u2019t remember conversations or visits. It\u2019s really sad and breaks my heart but there\u2019s not really anything that we can do. We just try to make sure that she\u2019s pain-free (a challenge given that she doesn\u2019t always stay put), keeps up with her therapy, and is pre-occupied with activities to keep her from getting so lonely.<\/p>\n
She doesn\u2019t have any doctor\u2019s appointments for a little while (planned ones, anyway), so hopefully things will start to settle down. I\u2019ll keep you posted should anything important or significant develop.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
