She is a wonderful lady who has been taking care of people for over 17 years. She’s patient and understanding and so caring with mom. I really hope that she can help get through to mom and cut through some of this newfound meanness she has been showing lately. K will be there during the week and she will have two other caregivers that alternate on the weekends to be with her. Unfortunately it has gotten to the point where she needs as much supervision as possible. I am hoping that mom will view these ladies as new friends or companions and not babysitters.

Her orthopedist said that her hip fracture is healing nicely and we don’t need to follow up again for another year or unless she has any new pains. Since she’s not doing much in the way of therapy I can’t imagine any issues due to that. If anything it would be due to another fall. Why do I say that??? Because that very night she fell out of bed. AGAIN. Today is Sunday though, so if she makes it to tomorrow without a fall I can proudly say she’s “TWO DAYS ACCIDENT FREE”. I’m not posting that until tomorrow though. Although the hip is cleared for the time being, we will be back to that office in about 3 weeks for a follow up on her foot.

Cyndie and I each spoke with her today. Mom didn’t remember seeing me and Sam yesterday and she thinks that she’s being locked up and held captive there. I guess if you want to be technical about it, she is being held captive – I won’t let her leave. That makes her angry because she still thinks that she can take care of herself. I try to explain that she really can’t, considering she falls about every other day and she can’t remember conversations she had just a couple of hours earlier. Of course that fires her up and it’s more proof that I’m out to get her.

It’s 4:00 and I’m told that mom had her phone taken away. She has gotten into the habit of throwing things out of frustration. Usually it’s her phone, the other morning it was a glass (at a caregiver), or she will just pick up anything she can get her hands on. She gets very few calls aside from me and Cyndie, but if you try and she doesn’t answer it could be that she doesn’t have her phone. I also know that when she’s out at an activity she’ll leave it in her room. Don’t bother leaving a message because she doesn’t know how to check them. Just keep trying – eventually you might get lucky and reach her.

Hoping for an uneventful night and the start to a good week since she’ll have someone with her during the day. Please keep her in your prayers that she can just find some peace and is comfortable.

I got to meet mom’s Monday through Friday caregiver, “K”.
