So much has happened in the last few days. Basically that means lots of falls. Including TWO yesterday alone. She\u2019s aggressive at times and continues to tell anyone around her how miserable she is. I really don\u2019t want to get into everything that she says, but whatever bad place you end up getting to, that\u2019s where she is and what she\u2019s saying.<\/p>\n
I took her to see the orthopedist today. They confirmed two fractures of her big toe. She\u2019s wearing a pretty big, heavy duty walking boot. They didn\u2019t want to put a permanent cast on it because we need to be able to monitor her skin for breakdown. The cast makes that possible. She\u2019s able to continue with her therapy as tolerated. I checked in with her a bit ago and she did have PT and she said that it didn\u2019t hurt. They are focusing on stand and pivoting. Walking is pretty much on the back burner because of she just can\u2019t\/won\u2019t do it. She doesn\u2019t even try to use one muscle most of the time. She won\u2019t even sit up straight in her chair. It\u2019s sad and pretty pathetic. Mentally she\u2019s just done.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not really sure what else to do for her. We put her in one of the best places in the area, the girls taking care of her all love her and are incredibly patient and sweet. If she doesn\u2019t want to get up and try getting stronger and keeps telling everyone that she just wants to be free (can\u2019t say I blame her), what can we do? She blames me and Cyndie for her being there and nothing we do makes her happy. So we\u2019ll continue to take it day by day. I just hope that she really understands how much we love her.<\/p>\n
Next week she has an appointment with her psychiatrist and another visit to the orthopedist. This time to check the progress of her hip. I really wish we could have done a twofer today\u2026<\/p>\n
Tomorrow will hopefully be a nice day for her. Her dear friend, \u201cH\u201d will be there to visit. H is so patient, encouraging and tries very hard to keep her engaged and interact with others. Throughout this whole ordeal she\u2019s been the one friend that has stayed consistent in keeping in touch and visiting regularly. Mom obviously doesn\u2019t get many visitors. But it\u2019s been very comforting to know that H has never failed to step in when Cyndie and I couldn\u2019t be there. For that I will always be grateful.<\/p>\n
