Mom looks a lot better today. The best part is that she is so much more coherent! Her confusion on Saturday was BAD. REALLY BAD. So much so that I was actually very concerned. When I went in today she asked me what day it was. When I told her it was Monday, she got very upset. She knew that Chad and I were supposed to head out of town and she was upset that we didn\u2019t go. Her understanding of what has happened and her feeling of being responsible at least tells me that she\u2019s aware of what\u2019s going on. That was NOT the case on Saturday. I told her not to worry about that \u2013 that we just made some adjustments but we were still going. Cyndie will be here to relieve us on Wednesday so not all is lost. It will be OK.<\/p>\n
The therapists came in to see her today but were told to hold off. Her blood count was down a bit and she needed a transfusion. Not completely uncommon, especially since she has been on blood thinners. Hopefully the unit of blood will help her to feel better and give her more energy. It will be really hard to get her up right now because of the blood issue. After switching her meds she ended up going back into Afib. They restarted the other medication they used on Saturday to get her heart back into normal rhythm. So far it has not affected her blood pressure. She may end up staying on the pill form of that, but I\u2019m not entirely sure.<\/p>\n
I met with a case manager today who is starting to make calls about availability in a skilled nursing facility for her rehab. I gave her a couple of places that I\u2019m interested in. She said that Maple Grove is unlikely to have room. It\u2019s OK actually, since MG is actually my third choice. Hopefully there will be room at one of the other 2 places (both in Leesburg).<\/p>\n
Mom knows that I will not be back to see her until the morning. She was actually looking pretty good. I am going to call around 6 to check on things.
